I remember when I read this poem in my student years. I was moved when I read it was the dog digging. Then it made me laugh when the dog said what he was really doing!

It might be her parents that are busy retrieving the fishing boat while the young girl takes the time to play with Le Crab. I guess she likes to feel the sand under her feet.
